Stop crying over your onions.  Oddly enough, the volatile compound that makes you cry is also responsible for the great taste in onions as well as the pleasant aroma when you cook the vegetable.
If onions make you cry when you cut them try one or all of the following:
-When Cutting onions place a bowl of cold water next to the cutting board.
-Place them in the freezer for 10 min before you chop them.
- Use a sharp knife and start at the top of the onion, leaving the root end until last.
- Chew gum.
